Resolve to exercise…the power of positive thinking

Resolve to exercise…the power of positive thinking

As a holistic health coach, I remind and work with my clients to use positive, happy thoughts to improve their health and state of well-being.  For the New Year, I wanted to explore fun, new exercises for positive thinking, specifically how to start each day with a positive thought.  To that end, let me share with you a new activity I have been trying on to help me do just that.

As a quick aside, there are a number of techniques I have used or suggested clients try on, including the following:

  • Reciting aloud affirmations or affirmindersTM or repeating a positive affirm-adjectiveTM multiple times
  • Gratitude or affirmation journaling
  • Deep breathing meditation

I have used one of these each morning for over 5 years now.  This year, I decided to try an exercise combining a few of these to get my day started this week.   Here is how it goes:

Immediately before bed: I write down a positive thought, affirmation, affirminderTM, affirm-adjectiveTM or anything that makes me smile or laugh.  I then write it 9 more times. (If I think of multiple things, I record as many of them as I can and choose only one thought to write multiple times.)

Upon waking:  I say it aloud one or more times as I breathe deeply and smile.  The great thing is it is already on my mind as I wake due to the exercise the night before.

No matter how you choose to do it, just remember to exercise the power of positive thoughts to start your day, your week, your month, your year and watch your health and well-being grow and your New Year’s resolutions come to life!
